HISTORY

1954
Takuji Hasegawa establishes Marucho Meriyasu (Marucho Knits), specializing in menswear. His wife, Kaoru, produced the garments while Takuji made the rounds of wholesalers with a bicycle-drawn cart.

 

1960s
Installation of 10 circular knitting machines and launch of integrated operations, from production of textiles through fabrication and wholesaling of garments.

 

1969
Company incorporated as Marucho Textiles Inc.

 

1971
Establishment of factory in Onjuku, Chiba Prefecture.

 

1984
Naoki Hasegawa assumes office as second president. Company name changed to MARUCHO Inc.

 

1990
Tokyo headquarters completed in Ryogoku, Sumida-ku.

 

1996
Launch of OEM for overseas collection brands. Tsuyoshi Hasegawa joins company, involved in manufacturing.

 

1998
Closure of Onjuku Factory.

 

2000
Launch of OEM for domestic collection brands.

 

2008
Launch of OEM for domestic boutiques.

 

2012
Strengthening of differentiated proposals tailored to customer needs

 

2014
Tsuyoshi Hasegawa assumes office as third president. Launch of in-house Quality Control Conference, “a conference focusing on failure case examples.”

 

2016
Focuses on strengthening of pattern technology to meet diversifying product requirements. Establishment of MARUCHO-WORKS consolidated network of local factories.

 

2018
Launch of SMART FACTORY project.

 

2019
Launch of overseas OEM project.

 

2020
Start of SMART FACTORY operations for multiple-item small lot and customized orders.

 

2021
Launch of GOODPEOPLE / GOODSTITCHING / GOODPRODUCT in-house original design manufacturing (ODM) brand; organization of solo trade exhibit.
Start of new SMART FACTORY operations.
